DOHENY GAA NOTES - (Number of times read: 799)

PRO | Tuesday 15 April 2014

The Junior A Hurlers had a comprehensive victory over Ballinora in the County League on Saturday evening last in Sam Maguire Park on a score-line of 0-20 to 1-10. The Dohenys played some excellent hurling at times during the game, with Jerry McCarthy giving an exhibition in free taking on the evening.  It was a good physical test for the home side and it’s games like this that will stand to the team in good stead for the year. Team: Vicent Healy, Killian Crowley, Tom Collins, Ross Crowley, Donal Rice, David Collins, Noel Collins, Chris Cronin, Jerry McCarthy, Brian McCarthy, Alan Sheehan, Don O’Driscoll, Barry O’Donovan, Patrick McCarthy, John Healy Subs: Jamie Carroll, Eoin Lavers, Johnny Kelly, Dan McSweeney, Tom Daly.

The Senior Footballers lost to Newmarket in a league game in Sam Maguire Park on Sunday last on a score-line of 0-09 to 0-10.  It was a disappointing performance by the home side.  Newmarket played with a high intensity and desire right through the game which the Dohenys failed to match.  Newmarket were full value for their victory.  Unfortunately this could be a costly loss for the Dohenys as it could jeopardize their chances of promotion to Division 1 league football.  The Senior footballers 1st round championship match with Nemo Rangers is only around the corner so there’s a lot of work to be done in the coming weeks on the training ground. Team: Darren Kelly, Donal Rice, Tom Collins, Barry O’Donovan, Maurice Murphy, Alan Sheehan, Eoin Lavers, David Collins, Pat Collins, Declan O’Dwyer, Patrick McCarthy, Jerry McCarthy, Brian McCarthy, Daniel O’Donovan, Mark Quinn. Subs: Sean Daly & Daniel McSweeney.
