Championship season is upon us this weekend in earnest with both the Senior & Junior A Footballers in action this Sunday. It was an extremely tough year to prepare teams due to the inclement weather conditions which made it difficult to schedule training sessions and matches etc but credit to both management teams and sets of players for their outstanding dedication this year to date.

The seniors are set to play old rivals O’Donovan Rossa in Drimoleague on Sunday 5th at 3.30pm.  This is a repeat fixture from last year where O’Donovan Rossa proved too strong on the day.  Hopefully our seniors can avenge this result this Sunday.  Clann naGael, host club of the senior match, has made an appeal that supporters would obey match traffic controls on the day due to the fact Feile Beag will be in full swing in Drimoleague this weekend and Main Street will be closed Sunday evening.  Supporters are asked to park on approach roads to Drimoleague and will be directed up towards the Church.

Our Junior A Footballers are in action later on Sunday evening in Castltown Kenneigh at 7pm against St. Colms.  Please support both teams.

The Junior A Footballers were unlucky to lose to Ilen Rovers in the past week at home in Dunmanway on a score-line of 0-09 to 2-05 in the league.  The Juniors lead at half time on a score-line of 0-06 to 0-04 but conceded two soft goals in the second half which swung the game in favour of Ilen Rovers. Team: Pearce O’Brien, James McCarthy, Conor Collins, Eoin O’Driscoll, Johnny Collins, Tadhg O’Leary, Brian McCarthy, Pa McCarthy, Dan McSweeney 0-01, Johnny Kelly 0-04, Mickey Farr, Jermey Maloney, Denis Healy 0-02, Johnny Hurley 0-02, John Healy. Subs used: Jamie Carroll, Sean Daly, Eoin Lavers, James McSweeney and Peter Kelly.

The Seniors played Kilcummin on Saturday last in Kerry in their last preparation game for this weekend’s championship encounter.  They had a good win in a very high scoring match, winning on a score-line of 2-15 to 2-12.
