The Doheny GAA Club held its AGM on Saturday night last in
the GAA Pavilion. Chairperson Mary Maybury got the meeting underway by
thanking all the members present on the night and also by thanking those who
helped in the running of the Club over the past 12 months. Mary gave a
brief overview of the year’s activities, highlighting in the particular the
success of the Sam Maguire 7s competition which the Club hosted. She
commended Finbarr Collins & the Sam Maguire 7s committee for organizing the
event. She thanked all the members and friends of the Club who gave the
Sam Maguire Complex a freshening up in the lead up to the event. Mary
paid tribute to Fionn Herlihy, who was an integral part of the Cork U20
football team that won the All-Ireland Final, and to Melissa Duggan, who
received an All Star for her performances for the Cork ladies in 2019, both
were fantastic achievements and the Club is very proud. Although no
silverware was won at adult level, the Doheny teams were very competitive in
their respective competitions and there’s positive signs of progress.
Mary wants to put greater emphasis on player development and welfare in the
coming year.
Secretary Anna Murphy then addressed the meeting by giving a
very detailed account of all the Club’s activities throughout the year going
into the specifics of how all the teams performed in their competitions, the
fundraising events that were ran throughout the year & thanking anyone that
contributed in the smooth running of the Club throughout 2019.
Assistant Treasurer Denis Collins on behalf of Treasurer
Caroline McCarthy gave a comprehensive account of the financial situation of
the Club. Denis highlighted the high costs of running a club and the
importance of maintaining regular fundraising, giving significant credence to
the weekly Club lotto. He also thanked all the members who were involved
in the running of various fundraising drives throughout the year i.e. the golf
classic, Cork Clubs’ Draw etc.

Martin Gildea was bestowed with the honoree position of
President of the Doheny GAA Club as Michael Farr Seniors 3 year term came to an
end. Brendan O’Farrell replaced Kevin O’Sullivan as Child Protection
Officer. The Club would like to thank both Michael Farr & Kevin
O’Sullivan on the contribution they made to the Club through their roles over
the last number of years and we’d look forward to your continued support.

Lotto:
There was no winner of the Doheny GAA Club’s Lotto Jackpot
of €9,600 held on Monday night last. The numbers drawn were 02, 18 &
28. Consolation prizes went to Denis O’Donoghue, Spa Road,
Phyllis McCarthy, Castle St and Eileen Hurley, Ros Gael. The jackpot now
stands at a massive €9,800 and the next draw takes place in the Pavilion on
Monday next, 2nd of December.
