DOHENY GAA NOTES - (Number of times read: 1119)
PRO | Tuesday 19 December 2017
It is that time of the year when family takes centre
stage and people travel from far and wide to spend the festive season with
family, relations and friends. The Doheny GAA Club wishes to take this
opportunity to wish its members and supporters a very Happy and Holy Christmas. Our wishes go especially to those who for a variety
of reasons cannot make it home and will spend Christmas in
foreign places.
The Doheny GAA Club Poc Fada competition takes place on
St. Stephens Day on the Derrinasafa Road. Teams of 3 people & please bring
your own hurley & sliotar. Registration on the day @ 2.30pm at the
PIGGERIES (top of Castle St). The presentation of prizes will take
place afterwards in the Parkway Hotel & refreshments
will be provided.
There was no winner of the Doheny GAA Club’s Lotto Jackpot
of €2,000 which was held on Sunday night last in the Doheny Bar. The
numbers drawn were 07, 13 & 17. Consolation prizes went to Noel
Collins, Woodbrook, Roger O’Donoghue, Ballygurteen & Kate Lordan, Mollough. The jackpot now stands at €2,200 and the next
draw takes place in the Pavilion on Wednesday night 27th of December
2017.
The Senior Football Championship Draws took place recently
and the Dohenys have been drawn against Caslehaven in the 1st round
of the championship. The losers of this
match will face the losers of the Bishopstown/Douglas match in round 2. The Dohenys have a very impressive record
against Castlehaven in the championship winning all 3 previous encounters in
2001, 06 & 07. Here’s hoping for
more of the same in 2018.
The Club would like to acknowledge the appointment of
Caroline McCarthy as the new Club treasurer and Mary Maybury as the new
vice-chairperson for the coming year. We
wish them every success in their roles.
