The Doheny U21B Hurlers will have to do it all over again after their pulsating County Championship fixture with Grenagh ended in a draw, Dohenys 1-14 to Grenagh’s 2-11.  Dohenys trailed by 5 points at half time 2-06 to 0-07 but a spirited 2nd half performance by the men from the west, where 17 year old Bill Murphy was to the fore, came thundering back into the game. The Dohenys actually took the lead in the closing stages of the game when Fionn Herlihy recorded a major.  Credit to Grenagh they got the equalizing point on the stroke of the full time whistle to force a replay.  Darragh O’Connor, Eoin Lavers & Jamie Carroll deserve a mention too for their outstanding displays on the night.

The Doheny senior footballers had to get one win out their remaining two fixtures to maintained their division 3 status in the County football league.  On Sunday week last they duly obliged by securing a great win away to Aghabulloge who at the time were contending for promotion themselves.  It was an outstanding team performance by the Dohenys men who ran out deserved 2-11 to 2-06 victors.

Unfortunately the senior team didn’t follow up their positive result over Aghabulloge with another win as they suffered a 1-10 to 8 point loss away to the hands of Carrigaline in their final league game of the season on Sunday last.  In fairness, Carrigaline were fighting for their own survival to remain in division 3 of the league & were very much up for the contest.  The Doheny senior teams focus now switches to their championship relegation playoff match with  Newcestown which will be taking place in the coming weeks.

The Doheny GAA Club would like to wish the Doheny Ladies every success in their upcoming County Final clash with Glanmire in CIT this Saturday at 3pm.  Congratulations to the Dohenys own Melissa Duggan who has made the shortlist for an All Star at wing back on the TG4 All-Star team of the year in her maiden season with the Cork Senior Ladies.
