Playing activities:
Both the Doheny senior & Junior A footballers are in
championship action this weekend. The
Doheny senior footballers are out Saturday evening at 6.15pm in Rosscarbery
against West Cork rivals Castlehaven. The Dohenys are massive underdogs for this game against a fancied Haven
side who have County title aspirations. The Doheny seniors league form to date has been mixed, with 2 wins and 2
losses. It will be a youthful Doheny
side that will take to the field on Saturday night, backboned by last year’s
winning U21 A West Cork Championship side. The Dohenys have been skirting with relegation over the last number of
years but they should be buoyed by the fact that the Dohenys have historically a
good senior football championship record against Castlehaven, winning all 3
previous encounters in 2001, 06 & 07. A monumental effort will be required though from the men in green to
keep that record intact.
The
Clubs’ Junior A footballers are in championship action on Sunday evening at
6.30pm against St. James of Ardfield. The
Junior footballers are showing good league form this season and are joint
leaders of Division 2 of the Carbery Junior football league with 3 wins from
3. The strength and depth of the squad
will depend on the players used in the senior championship. Nonetheless if the Dunmanway side play to
their potential they should give St. James a very good contest.
Lotto:
There was no winner of the Doheny GAA Club’s Lotto Jackpot
of €1,800 held on Sunday night last. The numbers drawn were 22, 30 &
32. Consolation prizes went to Cathriona Moloney, Acres, Martina
Collins, Ros Gael, Christopher O’Mahony, Chapel St. The jackpot now
stands at €2,000 and the next draw takes place in Wrynn’s Bar on Sunday night 15th
of April 2018.
