Eddie Moloney | Friday 27 March 2020
The death has occurred of great Doheny stalwart James Daly. James gave a lifetime of service to the club and was one of its great servants. He worked quietly in the background for many years and did vital work for the club. He joined the executive committee in 1956 and immediately took an interest in the maintenance side of the club. He was responsible for ensuring that the pitch was in perfect condition for training and matches. He continued that role for many years. In 1976 he became an officer of the club when he took over as Treasurer from the late Sean Shorten. He continued in that role until 1992. He rarely missed a match that was played in Sam Maguire park and collected at the gate for these matches. The finances of the club were in safe hands with James.
He was honoured with the clubman of the year in 1973 an award which was richly deserved.
The Doheny club expresses its sincere sympathy to his family . Ar dheis De go raibh a anam dilis
