Unfortunately
the Doheny Junior A Hurlers run in the West Cork Championship came to an abrupt
end, at the ¼ final stage, on Sunday evening last. Ballinscarthy proved
too strong on the evening and ran out deserved victors on a score-line of 3-17
to 1-09. It wasn’t all one way traffic as the final score-line would
suggest. The Dohenys in fact led at half time by a single point 1-07 to
1-06. Only two points separated the sides midway through the 2nd
half when the Bal side got two goals in quick succession. It was a hammer
blow to the Dohenys and a reinvigorated Ballinscarthy peppered the Doheny goal
for the remainder of the game. Hands up Bal were the better team on the
evening. Dohenys were missing 5 potential starters to the line-up due to
injury and other commitments and it is seen as a missed opportunity for the
Dunmanway men.
