U16 B1 West Cork League & Cship Final

Pride of place this week goes to our U16 footballers who
completed the league and championship double when defeating Kilbrittain on
Sunday last in Aughaville.
They were behind early with Kilbrittain first on the
scoreboard with a point in the first minute however Sam Maguires exerted their
superiority thereafter and were in command at the short whistle leading on a
scoreline of 1-7 to 0-2.
Sam’s remained in control for the duration of the 2nd
half and ran out 1-11 to 0-4 winners . Captain Alan Brickley graciously
received the silverware on behalf of a jubilant Sam Maguire side. It was one of
those rare occasions when each and every one of our lads played to their full
potential in what was a great team effort. Padraig Duggan and Ellis
O’Farrell were in fine form defensively snuffing out any danger from the
Kilbrittain forwards while Jerry Collins was imperious in midfield , Keelan
O’Donovan and Peter Collins shone in attack. They now qualify to meet
Ballinhassig in the County completion. Well done to all involved.
