Comments: Maguires u.16 footballers were unlucky to lose by a point to Ross in the final on Saturday. It was another important football game lost narrowly, like the U.12A football final, the U.12 D league final, the U.16 hurling against nemoand even the junior A hurling final against Mathúna's. Is there a reason for these narrow defeats? Could I suggest that while Doheny/Maguire teams are lovely ball players with great skill touches, they are lacking in the physical stakes. Maybe trainers of all the teams should concentrate a bit more on physical contact and tackling. It would be worth a try. Ross clearly won the physical contact stakes in the second half on saturday last.

Comments: Well done to the Under 16 footballers and the Under 12 B footballers narowly beaten today in Clonakilty by 1 point in both games.Well done to all selectors involved. In reply to JJ the future looks good from the pool of players coming up but we are losing games  in all grades because of been too nice and as Colm O Rourke Meath Stated been a nice fellow won nothing for me and Sean Boylan corected that.

Comments: Where to from here for the Seniors? Unfortunately I have a feeling we have tasted the last of the summer wine with current crop of players and the pinnacle was reached a couple of years back with County Final appearance. Any good prospects coming through underage?

Comments: Congratulations and well done to all involved in bringing the Cork footballers and Sam Maguire cup to town this afternoon. It was a marvellous scene to see such colour and excitement on a tuesday evening in September. I will get some photos on of the event over the next few days.

Comments: It's obvious the Junior Hurlers are a fine team with passionate old heads and young talented hurlers, all we needed was a bit of luck last Sunday. Can't wait for next year.

Comments: I left Ballineen on Sun. evening, disappointed of course, particulary for both the players and mentors but also very proud of all of you. Ye were part of a magnificent final, so hold your heads high, once down is no battle. As for the two supposed to be old timers, listen to Derry lads, as long as you enjoy it keep at it, we would miss you. Congratulations to both teams on a great final.
Sadly on Mon morning we heard of the passing of Steve. What a loss to the club. Steve came to town about ten or twelve years ago and it did not take him long to get envolved with the club The Sam Maguire club in particular benifited from Steve's love of hurling. Many of Sundays panel started with Steve and his  other cohoorts Dave and John, who also arrived in town about the same time. Not forgetting the other John who had arrived back in his native soil some years before them.If memory serves me right in a short space of time we were celebrating the winning of county hurling titles in  under 14, under 16 and minor.? You were a great clubman Steve, as much a Doheny as any of us and of course a very proud Limerick Man. We will all miss you Steve, My family and I were proud to know you.
