I'd go along with that alright, that there's a high drop off rate within the club and its something that needs to be looked at an addressed, but on the other side of the coin i wouldn't say its any greater than other clubs, bantry blues won 2 countys in the mid 90's but they also won was it 6 under 16A in a row + county's in the mid/late 80's, it was often a case of damage limitation playing against these teams, they lost players to oz, usa, london, illness, lack of interest, beer, work committments etc etc but the reason they suceeded at senior level was because they'd wave after wave coming through, its hard to define how that happened, i reckon persuit of excellance in the school was a big part of it, it was built into the curriculum to field right, kick right off either foot, block down, hand pass right with either hand, was part of their homework in a way as they'd teachers with a hugh interest in the sport,  they'll never see that volume of players coming through again as theres simply too many distractions nowadays, its all computers/ bebo/mobiles/myspace etc nowadays, sur back then you'd be happy to kick a coke bottle off a wall as you probably didn't have a football.
clubs like clon dont need the same level of sucess at under age level as they believe its their birth right to be winning senior titles......

Just to inform you  that these so called under 12 and 14 Football Teams which you have described them as were defeated by Nemo Rangers and Mallow in County Finals. If you get use to winning it gives you confidence.Mayby we should ask the Question why did some of these fine players who were winning at top level football give up playing football for the Club. Was it problems within the Club that were not addressed and are those problems still there.

donal mccarthy  from an earlier post you picked your best under age team of the past 25 years (winning so called west cork championships ). Let me remind you donal that only four of those players you picked , have actually won a under 21 A west cork champioship .( john collins , paddy conolly ,sean farr , donal o sullivan , ) They went on to the county final to be beaten by mallow by four points . In my view the highest level a team can play at in underage football . The equivalent of the champions league final . One of  our best  underage teams ever . Should have you picked a few more from this team ? have you forgotten about them ? No Pat Collins ??
