Comments: | Hawkeye bud, reckon thats a question for the lovely Anna, who it has to said, has been keeping us very well informed all year. As regards the referering, i think your right on the money hawki, moving on from that sordid topic is probably best. Was just having a skonse there at club history, poems & songs and the last entry was from 1966. I got the idea, what better way to raise spirits with the darkness descending than to compose a new club anthem... Me and the Hudson Hawk will be looking for people to submit songs and poems over the coming months. And hopefully if we get some desent material, we'll approach charlie mac and he might set music to the piece, but only if the material is top notch, cant go wasting charlie's time with dodgy lyrics........so thats basically the carrot were dangling... So get busy folks and the winter will fly by...... |

In fairness Sam, when did anything out of a Meath's man make any sense......they have a grudge against just about everything.
Anyway, we should move on regarding refs.....any wise words from Pat Mac?
How about the rest of the season - can the webmaster let us know if any Doheny teams remain in competitions?

When Donegal defeated Meath in the championship a couple of years ago, a game refereed by Michael Collins, Ollie Murphy of Meath commented that 'they had shot the wrong Michael Collins!' Just an aside. Not for or against |

What would we be like if we didn't have the old Hawkeye to bring a bit of calm and perspective to proceedings, you were sadly missed over the summer months....sadly missed, and dont let no body tell you different my friend. As for Mr Reilly esquire, I reckon the Collins bros. must have rubbed you up the wrong way somewhere along the line, I just hope against hope you weren't part of the now infamous "umbrella lynch-mob" that invaded seagull park clonakilty after a Junior football championchip match that the collins bros. were officiating at,  some years back.... |

Era Reilly - what are you on about?
These postings shouldn't be focusing on any particulr ref but on the standard of referring in general. Remember refs give up their time also and enter a no-mans land when stepping out onto the pitch.
We have plenty of experts so I challenge them to ref a game sometime - not as easy as sitting there in the armchair or perched on the fence in Sam Maguire Park. T'is a sport so lets keep it that way.
And to the Oracle - Michael Collins has 3 things going for him instead of the 2 you referenced. 3rd one being his name.......solid name and solid on the pitch.........

Michael Collins really left it flow in the International Rules a few years back, the nation went ape after it! both Collins brothers have a repeated history of shocking refereeing behind them, also started with the infamous goal down in Killarney a few years back. things went down hill after that. |

"what we've got here is.....failure to communicate, some men you just can't reach. So you get what we had here last week, which is the way he wants it... well, he gets it. I don't like it any more than you men".  Micheal collins has two things going for him that most other ref's in this divison dont... (A) He can keep up with the play (B) He actually knows the rules, which is a major help  I konw he's got his detractors for not letting games flow and develop, but at least he'll take action and wont let the game desend into a series of tit for tat off the ball incidents. There's ref's in west cork and their answer to everything is to throw the ball in or up.....not good enough in my book, not with players giving up their time for 6 to 8 months training.....  |

Comments: | With all due respects to last 2 posters players need to own up to their own bad behaviour! Always easy to blame the refs but the carry on of some players over the summer was questionable. They'll always be tensions but don't be pointing the finger at the man in the middle........ The Oracle may have some more words of wisdom on this topic |
